18 March 2021 – We held the last online informative event in Patras for the project “Non-profits & Media advocating for good!”, which is implemented under the Active citizens fund programme.
Representatives of Non-Profit Organizations and Media active in Patras, had the opportunity to learn about the project and the benefits of their participation in the experiential education and cooperation program.
Sotiris Petropoulos, representative of the implementing organisation and Co-Founder of HIGGS spoke about the importance of advocacy, the need to implement the project and its objectives. In addition, the project partners, Christos Fragonikolopoulos, Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Natasha Papadopoulou, Project Manager at the Open Knowledge Foundation of Greece, and Dimitris Xenakis, Co-Founder at the Initiative for Journalism presented the topics that will be covered during the experiential education and cooperation program through which NGOs and media in Patras will have the opportunity to co-design and implement together advocacy actions that will bring about institutional changes to social problems in our country.
The project “Non-profits & Media advocating for good!” is implemented in the framework of the Active citizens fund project, with HIGGS as implementing agency and its partners, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Open Knowledge Foundation of Greece and Civil NonProfit Companies Initiative for Journalism.
The €12m Active citizens fund programme is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and is part of the European Economic Area (EEA) funding mechanism for the period 2014 – 2021 known as EEA Grants. The programme aims to strengthen and enhance the sustainability of civil society and to highlight its role in promoting democratic processes, enhancing citizens’ participation in public life and defending human rights. The Active citizens fund grant for Greece is managed jointly by the Bodossaki Foundation and SolidarityNow.
